EMERGENCY PRESSURIZATION SYSTEM

The EPS is an emergency system engineered to pressurize vital rooms/area inside onshore or offshore buildings that is necessary to protect from the accidental ingress of toxic gasses or harmful outdoor atmosphere. This requirement is fundamental during Fire&Gas Alarm Emergency Situation in order to protect personnel, equipment and emergency switchboard (typically in control rooms, emergency electrical rooms, safe haven, temporary refuge, muster area) until the restoration of a safe condition or the arrival of the rescue team. The requirement is met by using a network of breathable air, supplied inside the rooms in order to compensate the air leakage of the housing. The Compressed Breathing Air, necessary for the pressurization during the emergency time is stored inside high-pressure cylinders rack. The volume and the pressure of the cylinders is calculated in order to minimize the foot-print of the system and at the same time to assure the breathing and the pressurization (with a reasonable safety factor) for the duration of the emergency or until the stop of Gas Alarm (or other dangerous situations). The EPS can be used as a stand-alone system or in conjunction with HVAC system (temperature control of the area) and local chemical filters (typically CO2 scrubbers).

Engineering and supply, with ASTRATAURI Brand, for the onshore complex of ARAMCO Fadhili and Marjan projects, of Emergency Pressurization Systems with breathable air for Air Locks and Temporary Refuges.

CYLINDERS RACK WITH CONTROL PANEL - The breathing air necessary for the pressurization of the rooms is stocked in bottle racks with 80 litres cylinders at 300 bar. The number of cylinders correspond to the calculated capacity of breathable air necessary for the pressurization of the rooms and for the personnel breathing. The racks are realized in hot dip galvanized steel. Each air bottle is provided with an isolating valve. Each rack is complete of dedicated panel with isolating valves. The panel is composed as follows: Inlet flange with isolating valve + non return valve; Pressure Indicators ; Safety valve + flange to connect the valve discharge to a safe area; Outlet flange (supply to the system) with isolating valve and non return valve.
PRESSURE REDUCTION GROUP - The 300 bar breathing air coming from the air bottles is filtered by micrometric filter (suitable for installation at 300 barg), necessary only to prevent microscopic impurity during the first running of the system (pre-commissioning or commissioning); After the filter, the reduction group on the 300 bar line is composed by the following devices: Pressure Transmitter; Pressure Indicator; Pressure Reducing Valve from 300 to 6-3 barg; Piping lines for connection; Isolating Valves; Drain Valves; Safety Valve (with isolating valve locked open).
FIELD DISTRIBUTION- Downstream the reducing group, for each room on the 6-3 barg lines, the following devices are normally installed: Differential Pressure Transmitter; Needle valve (for each room); Solenoid valve (for each room); Air nozzles (for each room). This distribution piping is installed in the rooms inside the false ceiling. Pipework (tubing/piping) for reducing groups and for breathing air distribution to rooms is realized in stainless steel AISI 316L. Final breathing air supply is assured by calibrated nozzles.
